Alphabet Manifesto Therapeutic Card Set

The Alphabet Manifesto Card Set contains 26 prompts, from A-Z, about good things children should expect to have in their lives by right.

Creating a manifesto incorporates Affirmation Practice (identifying our strengths and attributes – see Celebrate Me Card Set) and Intention Practice (focusing on the things that are important to your heart and purposefully directing your energy towards them – see Intention Imagination/Shaping My Intention Card Sets).  It can also help us to realise all the things we are grateful for in our lives (see Unicorns of Gratitude/Gratitude Galaxy Card Sets).  Affirmation, Intention and Gratitude Practices all help to increase our resilience and improve our mental health.

For some children, speaking about Affirmations (‘I am’ statements) can feel hard because they can struggle to see the good in themselves and their own potential. Such children can really benefit from the point of a manifesto, with the language being about all individuals deserving certain things in their lives. This can help to start to rebalance some of their more negative assumptions about themselves and their lives, based on their earlier experiences.

In reality, the Alphabet Manifesto is already a Children’s Charter! However, the cards can be used singularly, so children can build their own declarations, or they can be used as a full A-Z and children can elaborate on each theme and what it means for their lives. They can also add actions to each point. There are an additional 3 cards that can allow for children to identify a few individualised aspirations for themselves, as well as a cover card.
