Empowering Children
An important way to empower children is to help them think about their fundamental rights; how they should expect to be treated by other people and the world around them. This can help them to learn to recognise their own worth and identify their own value bases and aspirations. All of these things in turn help children to think about how they want to treat others.
Creating a manifesto can be a really positive, encouraging and creative way of exploring children’s rights. It can incorporate Affirmation Practice (identifying our strengths and attributes) and Intention Practice (focusing on the things that are important to you and purposefully directing your energy towards them) as well as helping us to realise all the things we are grateful for in our lives. Affirmation, Intention and Gratitude Practices all help to increase our resilience and improve our mental health.
